MOUZ's latest addition sat down with us for an interview after the team beat OG to go 1-0 in Malta.

Dorian "xertioN" Berman hit the ground running at the IEM Road to Rio Europe RMR, coming out swinging against OG on Vertigo alongside his former MOUZ NXT teammates Ádám "torzsi" Torzsás and Jon "JDC" de Castro. The trio led the way to a relatively straightforward 16-10 victory for MOUZ, earning the team a spot in the 1-0 pool and setting up a match against Natus Vincere on Wednesday.

xertioN posted a 1.38 rating on Vertigo against OG to kick off the RMR

xertioN took some time to speak with HLTV after the win, giving his thoughts on how his integration into the roster has been going thus far. The rifler talked about some of the struggles he's having becoming adjusted to the tier one scene and the way he needs to play in his role, as well as the form of David "frozen" Čerňanský, who he said is "probably the best player I've played with."

xertioN, a pretty good first win here to kick off the RMR. How are you feeling after that 16-10 win?

I'm feeling great, I think we played really well. We were in control the whole game and it was a good game by us.

I expected it to be pretty easy to get comfortable in MOUZ because I know everything here, but there is some stuff that I'm not so comfortable about right now Dorian "xertioN" Berman

How is your integration into MOUZ going? You only came into the team at the start of September and EPL was your first big event, so how has it been for you so far?

I would say it's going really well. I expected it to be pretty easy to get comfortable in MOUZ because I know everything here, the system, the org, even the players in the team right? So I expected it to be smooth, but obviously there is some stuff that I'm not so comfortable about right now, and some maps maybe a bit less.

We're just working towards it and as soon as I will feel more comfortable, I will also start putting some better numbers consistently.

When you say there's stuff you're not comfortable with right now, is that role-based, or what do you mean by that?

Maybe it's the system, like sometimes I'm not 100% confident in the way we approach rounds and I don't really know my role in some rounds and that causes me to be maybe confused sometimes. It feels bad obviously from my own part that I know I can't help the team sometimes, and yeah I just got to work through it and keep experiencing those rounds.

Let's talk about your role a bit. When I talked to sycrone when you first came into the team, he said you were going to be more of an aggressive rifler for them. Is that where you're uncomfortable, or is it more how that is fitting in with everyone else's roles that leave you feeling confused?

It's not necessarily roles, I'm very comfortable playing aggressive, it's what I've done my whole life. I think it's just more certain situations, certain spots that I'm put in now on this team for example are different than the last teams, because it's tier one. There's certain situations I feel uncomfortable in right now, but most of them I'm pretty good at.

It's interesting you say that when you're coming into this team where you already have two of your former NXT teammates, as well as your old coach. How is it being reunited with them?

It's been amazing, they've improved a lot. It's very fun seeing how they improved and developed as players and people as well. It's been really nice to be here with them again.

To be honest, I kind of feel like I'm a natural in this way [...] it's very easy for me to calm down and just enjoy the game Dorian "xertioN" Berman on adjusting to playing big events

When you were in NXT, you played in the WePlay Academy League, which probably helped prepare you a bit for more formal LAN experiences. You were also one of the few teams playing a bunch of tournaments outside of the Academy League and placing well in those — did playing in all of that help get you ready for events like this?

For sure, every experience is good, officials especially. To be honest, I kind of feel like I'm a natural in this way. For example, the game versus Liquid in [EPL] playoffs, I was nervous for maybe the first five rounds, but then it's very easy for me to calm down and just enjoy the game.

That basically happens in every map, maybe the first two or three rounds I'm maybe a bit nervous, maybe not so confident, but then as soon as that leaves I'm just doing whatever I want basically.

xertioN has had multiple tastes of victory already in the academy league

Let's talk a bit more about that game versus Liquid. You had a pretty good result in the group stage of EPL, made it straight to the quarter-finals, but then Liquid came out of the gates swinging and beat you in two maps there. What went wrong in that series for you?

To be honest, we rewatched the game and I think it was some minor errors, like we were taking space but we were not really playing off it. Both the games we were not playing 100%, maybe some nerves for everyone basically, maybe except the veterans like dexter and frozen.

They just played really good as well, and they've been playing really good this EPL and this is the reason why they almost won the tournament as well. There is some props to give to them as well.

It's been a few days since you got eliminated, what have you spent that time doing? Was it some days off, or straight into bootcamping for this RMR?

We had one or two days off, one day was fully off, the second day we talked a little bit about some stuff. Then the third day after that it was practice already, so we had three days of practice before this.

We also watched the game versus Liquid during those days obviously, and we just prepared kind of like a bootcamp, yeah.

when frozen was put in aggressive roles before something didn't feel 100% to him in a way and he wasn't unleashed Dorian "xertioN" Berman on why he thinks frozen is flourishing now

frozen has been playing really well, especially since you joined. sycrone had mentioned he would be moving into more of a lurk-support hybrid role. How has it been playing with him?

I think he's amazing, the best player I've played with probably. It's really a pleasure watching him play and listening to him talk. He's just able to do whatever he wants now kind of because he is a more passive player by nature, and when he was put in aggressive roles before something didn't feel 100% to him in a way and he wasn't unleashed.

Now he feels way better, at least that's how I see it, and I'm just really happy to have him by my side.

Lastly, I wanted to touch on one statement you made. The last time we interviewed you during WePlay Season 3 you said the rapid growth and how much attention you were getting at once could sometimes be overwhelming, and three players had also put you as their Bold Prediction for the year. Now there are even more eyes on you, so does it still fee like that or are you feeling a little bit more comfortable?

I'm very comfortable now. Before I was very inexperienced, I'm not saying I'm experienced now but I've been through some stuff. It feels great to be honest, not necessarily the attention but hearing some good words from the big people, you can say. If it's my teammates, my coach, my organization, as well as the public obviously, and it's been a pleasure.
