G2 Esports have announced that former LDLC member Simon "Fuks" Florysiak will play for the team as a substitute in the remainder of ELEAGUE.
Simon "Fuks" Florysiak will be stepping in for Cédric "RpK" Guipouy, who has been advised by doctors not to fly for a few weeks after being diagnosed with a perforated eardrum.
The news comes as a huge blow to G2, who finished at the bottom of their group at ESL One Cologne following defeats against SK Gaming and fnatic. RpK was the team's best player at the Major, boasting a rating of 1.09.
'The Tank' ruled out because of health issues
Fuks, who currently plies his trade for Red Instinct Rising Stars, is mostly known for his time on LDLC White, with whom he won ASUS ROG Winter 2016, alongside G2 member Alexandre "bodyy" Pianaro.
He ended up leaving LDLC in April following the disbandment of the two rosters supported by the organisation, who then tasked Kévin "Ex6TenZ" Droolans with building a new team.
"It is an honor to make the trip with G2 for ELEAGUE," he told G2's website. "I know it will be hard for me to do as well as RpK, but I have worked hard to be in shape for this tournament.
"This is also an opportunity for me to show what I can do, and I will do my best to help the team. Maybe RpK's stickers will also make me a TANK!"
G2 will take on mousesports in the first round of the ELEAGUE last-chance qualifier, which will kick off on Wednesday. The top two teams of this single-elimination bracket will advance to the playoffs, joining the six group winners.
The French team will compete in the remainder of ELEAGUE with:
Richard "shox" Papillon
Edouard "SmithZz" Dubourdeaux
Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom
Alexandre "bodyy" Pianaro
Simon "Fuks" Florysiak (stand-in)
